How to rotate a PDF

Three steps, and your file stays on your device the whole time.

  1. 1

Drop a PDF into the drop box

Or click to browse for it. Nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2

Rotate every page, or click the ones that are sideways

Left, right, or upside down. Each page redraws at its new angle.

  3. 3

Click Save and download the rotated PDF

The pages are turned, not redrawn, so the file keeps its quality and size.

When to rotate a PDF

Scanners and phones guess which way is up, and they often guess wrong. These are the usual ones.

A scan that came out sideways

When the whole file lies on its side, one click on Rotate left or Rotate right turns every page, without opening the page grid at all.

One page upside down

A sheet fed the wrong way round turns up once in a stack. Click that page and choose Upside down; the rest stay as they are.

Wide tables in a portrait report

Pages with charts or wide tables are often set sideways. Turn only those so they read upright on a screen, and leave the text pages alone.

A PDF that opens sideways for everyone

Turning the view in a PDF reader lasts until you close it. Saving here writes the rotation into the file, so it opens the right way up for whoever you send it to.

A long file with a run of turned pages

Click the first page and shift click the last to pick the whole run, then turn them together. The sidebar lists how many pages sit at each angle.

No catch

Rotating PDFs, answered

Is my file uploaded anywhere?+

No. Your PDF is read from your device and the pages are turned in memory by your browser. It never leaves your computer or phone.

Is it free to rotate a PDF here?+

Yes. There is no watermark, no page limit, and no account. The work happens in your browser, so there is nothing for us to charge for.

Can I rotate just one page?+

Yes. Click a page in the grid and use the rotate buttons for the picked pages, or use the small rotate button on the page itself. Shift click picks a run of pages.

Does rotating lose quality?+

No. The rotation is saved as a page property, the way PDF viewers expect. Nothing is re-rendered or compressed, so text stays sharp and the file stays about the same size.

My scan is sideways. What do I do?+

Drop it in and click Rotate left or Rotate right for the whole document. If only some pages are sideways, click those pages and rotate just them.

Will the rotation stick in other apps?+

Yes. The saved PDF opens the right way up in every viewer, including Preview, Acrobat, phones, and browsers.

Can I rotate a password protected PDF?+

Yes, if you know the password. Type it when the file is added. Tick Keep the password before saving and the rotated PDF opens with the same one.

Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows?+

Yes. It runs in any current browser, Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox, on a computer, a phone, or a tablet. There is nothing to install and no account to make.

Is there a file size limit?+

No. There is no set limit and no daily cap. Your own device does the work, and files of a few hundred megabytes are fine on a laptop.
