Help

Every tool works the same way: pick it, drop your file, download the result. When something goes wrong, it is usually one of the things below.

Getting started

Choose a tool from the homepage, or drop your file there and pick from the tools that can open it. The tool opens with your file loaded. Make your changes, then save.

When the result is ready you can send it straight into another tool, without downloading it first.

A file will not open

The usual causes are a password on the PDF or a damaged file.

  • If the PDF asks for a password in your PDF reader, remove the password there first, then try again.
  • If the file is damaged, open it in a PDF reader and print it to a new PDF. The new copy usually opens.
  • Check the file really is a PDF or an image. Renaming another kind of file to .pdf does not make it one.

A tool is slow, or the page reloads

Your device does the work, so its memory is the limit. A long scan with a full page image on every page is the heaviest kind of file.

  • Close other tabs and apps to free memory.
  • Try a computer if a phone struggles with a very large file.
  • Split a huge file into parts, work on each, and merge them again.

Finding your download

Saved files go wherever your browser puts downloads, usually the Downloads folder. On an iPhone or iPad, look in the Files app under Downloads, or use Share to send the file straight to another app.

Picking up where you left off

If the page reloads or you close the tab by accident, open the tool again. It offers to resume your last session for up to a day. Sessions live only in your browser, on your device.

Browsers

The tools work in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox, on computers, phones, and tablets. If something looks broken, updating the browser is the first thing to try.

Still stuck?

Write to us. Say which tool, which browser, and what happened. Please describe the file rather than attach it: the tools never needed to see it, and neither do we.
